call for papers
In recent years, the cultural heritage sector has been undergoing a profound transformation, facilitated by the introduction of advanced digital tools capable of revolutionizing the ways in which historical and artistic heritage is documented, analyzed, and managed. Within this scenario, the 3D Modeling & BIM Workshop is launching a call on the theme of the “Transformation of Cultural Heritage,” which aims to be an opportunity for interdisciplinary discussion between institutions, research bodies, scholars, professionals, and companies operating in the field of digital technologies for cultural heritage. The event aims to highlight the potential offered by three-dimensional modeling (3D Modeling) and Building Information Modeling applied to historical and monumental contexts (HBIM), emphasizing how these tools now allow geometric, material, and conservation data to be integrated into intelligent models, supporting complex decision-making processes in the areas of restoration, maintenance, and use.The workshop aims to provide a forum for practical experiences in historical architecture, archaeological contexts, and museum environments, illustrating methodologies, workflows, and digital protocols that are now recognized as best practices in the sector.
Particular attention is paid to the role of digitization in preventive conservation, planned management of interventions, and narrative enhancement, including immersive and inclusive experiences designed for different audiences. The conference also provides an opportunity to critically reflect on ongoing challenges, such as data interoperability, regulatory standards, long-term sustainability, and the development of new professional skills. At a time when the digital transformation of cultural heritage is no longer a future prospect but a present urgency, dialogue between the academic, institutional, and industrial worlds is essential to guide cultural and strategic policies in the coming years.
